Rachel S: Record Improvement from Slipped Disc
Published: 6 December 2019

Rachel S came to us with a slipped disc (disc herniation) and achieved a record improvement in her recovery. Her case is a good example of what's possible when the right treatment is applied to the right condition.
About Disc Herniations
A "slipped disc" is a colloquial term for a disc herniation or prolapse, where the inner material of the disc pushes through the outer wall. This can press on nearby nerve roots, causing back pain and often radiating leg pain (sciatica).
Disc herniations do not always require surgery. The majority of disc protrusions can be managed with the right non-surgical approach. IDD spinal decompression therapy is particularly effective because it directly addresses the disc by creating negative pressure that encourages the disc material to retract and the nucleus to rehydrate.
The Recovery Process
Recovery from a disc herniation involves three phases: initial pain and inflammation management, decompression of the disc and nerve root, and progressive core rehabilitation to prevent recurrence. With the right combination of treatments, recovery that might otherwise take months can often be significantly accelerated.
