Victoria J: Stenosis and Sciatica Fixed with IDD Therapy
Published: 7 December 2019

Victoria J had spinal stenosis causing sciatica. After a course of IDD Therapy at Spine Plus, her symptoms were resolved.
Spinal Stenosis and Sciatica
Spinal stenosis reduces the space available for nerve roots as they exit the spinal canal. When the narrowing is sufficient to compress a nerve root directly, the result is sciatica: pain, numbness, or tingling radiating down the leg. For many patients, this combination of stenosis and sciatica is particularly difficult to treat because the structural narrowing limits what manual therapy alone can achieve.
IDD Therapy for Stenosis-Related Sciatica
IDD Therapy works by decompressing the disc space, creating more room for the exiting nerve roots. By reducing disc bulge and increasing the space between vertebrae, it can relieve the nerve root compression that's driving the leg symptoms. For stenosis with a significant disc component, this is often more effective than any other non-surgical approach.
Combined with TECAR therapy to reduce the neurogenic inflammation that accompanies stenosis, IDD can produce results that significantly exceed what either treatment achieves alone.
